NEW PHILADELPHIA — First-year head coach Cory McQuain guided the Buckeye Trail baseball team to the Inter-Valley Conference North Division title and those efforts were recognized with the release of the 2022 Inter-Valley Conference All-League Selections.

Trail finished the season with an impressive 11-1 IVC mark to take the top spot followed by Strasburg (8-3), East Canton (7-5), Conotton Valley (6-5), Malvern (6-6), Tuscarawas Central Catholic (2-10) and Newcomerstown (1-11).

McQuain was tabbed with IVC Coach of the Year honors and led the Warriors to a 15-5 mark overall for the season.

"We had a pretty good year," McQuain offered. "It ended a little early for us, but we played some good ball this season. The kids bought in on Day One and did what we asked of them."

"Everyone accepted their roles on the team," McQuain added. "We bring everybody back except Brody Carpenter, so we are excited about next year already. It's been a long time since Trail had success on the baseball diamond. We want to continue it now that we have got a taste of that success."

Buckeye Trail had three First Team selections in juniors Nick Neuhart, Isaac Beaver and sophomore Braden Williams, with Neuhart also being named the IVC Player of the Year.

Junior Garrett Burga was tabbed with Second Team honors, with junior Tyler Dodd named Honorable Mention.

In softball selections, Buckeye Trail landed senior Abby Wayble and junior Emma Smith on the Second Team, with sophomore Morgan Watson named Honorable Mention.

Trail had a pair of Second Team picks in boys track with Kieran Kraher (discus) and Janson Alloway (pole vault). Senior Franko Rome and sophomore Charlie Parry received Honorable Mention recognition. In girls track it was senior Ava Tank and sophomore Riley Ward earning Honorable Mention
