Buckeye Valley Family YMCA is hosting summer camps this summer to expose area youth to STEM.

According to Jamie Goudy, BVF YMCA membership and marketing director, each location across their jurisdiction is holding one week of traditional camp dedicated to science exploration.

Through this five-day camp, Science Galore and More, campers get to explore science with activities, including hands-on games, experiments, STEM activities and science make-and-take ideas.

Goudy said kids can also choose to attend the organization's Full STEAM Ahead specialty camp, which she said is aimed at enhancing and encouraging curiosity and enthusiasm for science, math, engineering, art and technology.

"Through new community partnerships, we are working to bring greater STEM access to all campers, including our All for One campers, beyond our week long opportunities," Goudy said. "We have special guests scheduled throughout the summer to expose the kiddos to STEM occupations and generate excitement about STEM."

Goudy said the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority gave a demonstration during one of their most recent camps.

"It was great to pay witness to the All for One campers learning from the PCA engineers about a product manufactured right here in Licking County. I believe kids are awoken to STEM job opportunities every time they get to witness STEM skills in action," Port Authority President and CEO Rick Platt said.
