Bucks County DA investigating accident involving Morrisville mayor. Why so few details?

The Bucks County District Attorney’s office has confirmed it is investigating an alleged hit-and-run accident involving Morrisville’s mayor, but details about the incident including when the accident occurred are a mystery.

Morrisville police referred the case for investigation citing a conflict of interest, District Attorney Matt Weintraub said in an email. Mayor Brud Anderson oversees the borough’s police department.

Morrisville Police Chief George McClay declined to comment about the accident.

Attempts to reach Anderson by phone, social media, and email were unsuccessful on Wednesday and Thursday.

At least two Morrisville council members reached Wednesday also said they knew nothing about an investigation involving Anderson, who was elected in 2021.

Councilman Scott Robinson said that he was shocked that council members were not told about something as serious as a police investigation involving the mayor.  When he spoke to the borough manager, he said, she said she only learned about the investigation on Tuesday.

“That is insane," Robinson said. “There is something wrong with this town. There is something wrong with our police department and our mayor. It’s disturbing.”
