As expected the Buffalo Bills will be without defensive tackle Ed Oliver for the third straight game when they take on the Baltimore Ravens Sunday afternoon at rainy M&T Bank Stadium.

Bills coach Sean McDermott had already announced Friday that cornerback Christian Benford, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and wide receiver Jake Kumerow were ruled out of the key AFC game, but he was not willing to divulge much more. Joining them as inactive are tight end Tommy Sweeney and defensive lineman Justin Murray.

But Sunday morning, good news came as the Bills are getting back several key players led by safety Jordan Poyer, center Mitch Morse, and cornerback Dane Jackson, all of whom missed last week's game in Miami. Also, guard Ryan bates, who left the Miami game with a concussion, is active, as is wide receiver Gabe Davis who tweaked his ankle during the practice week.

Davis was limited Wednesday due to his sore ankle, was downgraded to did not practice Thursday, then was back to limited Friday. McDermott didn’t seem too worried about that. “I don't know if it qualifies as a setback but he aggravated it a little bit,” McDermott said. “We’ll see how it looks, but I think he’s on schedule to go.” Sure enough, Davis said after returning to practice Friday that he'd be good to go and he is, though his ankle does seem to be slowing him down a bit.

Also in the limited participation bucket during the week were tight end Dawson Knox and defensive back Cam Lewis and they are both ready to go.

Newly-signed cornerback Xavier Rhodes, who was on the practice squad but was seemingly set for an activation to the 53-man roster against the Ravens, now has a hamstring injury and has now been placed on the injured reserve list, meaning he won't be able to make his Bills debut for at least another four weeks. By then, Tre'Davious White could be back, so Rhodes may never see the field in Buffalo. Just another chapter to a rather unbelievable injury situation early in the season.
