Buffalo Bills receiver Cole Beasley rips new NFL coronavirus protocols

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley slammed the disparities in the new COVID-19 protocols that the NFL and the League's Players Association agreed upon for players who are vaccinated and those who are not.

The new protocols will allow vaccinated players to interact freely in close capacity, participate in sponsorship opportunities, and eat in the cafeteria with other vaccinated players. Unvaccinated players must be tested for COVID-19 daily, may not leave their hotels while traveling, and are prohibited from taking part in marketing and sponsorship activities.

"This is crazy. Did we vote on this? I stay in the hotel. We still have meetings. We will all be together. Vaccinated players can go out the hotel and bring covid back in to where I am. So what does it matter if I stay in the hotel now? 100 percent immune with vaccination? No," Beasley wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

Beasley, 32, also criticized the NFLPA, accusing the association of not taking into consideration the needs of the players it is supposed to represent.

"The players association is a joke," Beasley said. "Call it something different. It’s not for the players. Everyone gives me the 98 percent of people who are vaccinated don’t get COVID again. The odds of me getting in the NFL and playing for 10 years are lower than that and I’m here."

The list of rules also lays out that unvaccinated players must quarantine after a high-risk exposure to COVID-19, while vaccinated players do not have to. Masking is also mandatory in club facilities and while traveling for those who have not received their shots.

Beasley, along with Bills quarterback Josh Allen, have not yet made a decision as to whether to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

On Friday, Beasley defended his decision not to get the shot, posting, "I'd rather take my chances with Covid."

"I will be outside doing what I do," Beasley wrote on Twitter. "I'll be out in the public. If your scared of me then steer clear, or get vaccinated. Point. Blank. Period. I may die of covid, but I'd rather die actually living."
