Buffalo Gap Road: 'Brief closure' planned for Thursday.

The Texas Department of Transportation has some bad news for drivers commuting on Buffalo Gap Road Thursday.

Traffic will be stopped for about 10 to 15 minutes at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday on Buffalo Gap Road and Robertson Drive if everything goes as planned, Lisa Tipton, TxDOT public information officer, said.

This closure will occur almost directly across the street from ongoing construction at the old McDonald's on Buffalo Gap Road.

'Brief closure'

Beginning today, TxDOT's contractor is installing a signal mast arm on the northeast corner of FM 89 — Buffalo Gap Road — and Robertson Drive intersection, according to a recent press release.

TxDOT expects to activate the permanent signal Thursday.

"Traffic will be stopped for approximately 10-15 minutes while the temporary signals, currently spanning over both the north and southbound lanes, are disconnected," Tipton said.

It will be a "brief closure" of 10 to 15 minutes if all goes as planned, she said.

TxDOT urges drivers to use caution when driving in the work zone, watching for crews and equipment that will be working in and around this intersection.

Currently, this project is six months behind schedule.
