Bulldogs, Panthers end regular season with wins

ALPENA – The Rudyard Bulldogs got a good district tune-up on Thursday, traveling to Alpena and coming home with a 52-43 win over the Wildcats in a non-conference boys basketball game.

The Bulldogs used a strong second quarter to overcome an early 10-8 deficit and take a 24-22 lead into halftime.

The Wildcats had no answers for Rudyard big-man Jesse Zeeryp. Zeeryp led all scorers in the game with 19 points, while Cam Peterson was also in double figures for Rudyard with 14. Dylan McMillan chipped in with nine points, and Eli Sprague finished with eight. Peterson led the ‘Dogs on the glass with nine rebounds, while Zeeryp snagged seven boards.

Alpena was led by Colt Gray, who scored 11 points, while Devin LaMay, Easton Srebnik, and Tucker Bright tallied 10 points each.

The Bulldogs finish the regular season with a 17-5 mark and will await the first round winner of Monday’s Newbery vs Cedarville-Detour district matchup.

Pickford 80, Alanson 44

ALANSON – The Pickford Panthers cruised in their regular season finale, hammering the Alanson Vikings 80-44 on Thursday night in their non-conference clash.

Every player that dressed for Pickford scored except one and the game was essentially over at halftime as the Panthers carried a 35-16 lead into the break.

Hayden Hagen scored 14 points to pace the Panthers, while Braylon Rounds finished with 11. Tommy Storey and David Kozisek finished with nine points each.

Mason Weidenhammer scored 16 to lead the Vikings, while Cristian Silvers was also in double figures with 14.
