'Bullets were flying': One man dead after Austin car show outside Fiesta Mart

One man was dead Saturday evening after a car show outside a Fiesta Mart in Austin, according to a police media briefing.

Ariel Crumes, a public information officer for the Austin police, said multiple people called 911 at 6:25 p.m. Saturday and reported that "bullets were flying" during a car show in the parking lot outside the supermarket in the 3900 block of the Interstate 35 North frontage road.

First aid was rendered, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the briefing, Crumes said police are not actively looking for any suspects and said it is believed to be an isolated incident.

The fourth annual lowrider car show was scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. and featured a DJ, children's entertainment and prizes. It was not immediately clear whether the car show had ended at the time of the slaying or whether the victim had participated.

Requests for further comment from Austin police and Austin-Travis Country Emergency Medical Services had not been answered at the time of publication.
