TAMPA (USF) – The USF Bulls will enter the 2024 season with new player power and coaching. Hot off a 45-0 bowl win over Syracuse University, the Bulls had the only FBS bowl victory for a Florida university football program in 2023. The standout offensive duo of quarterback Byrum Brown, wide receiver Sean Atkins and defensive end Tramel Logan are all returning in 2024.

The Bulls set 12 team records and 16 individual marks during the 2023 season and logged the program’s highest ranked recruiting class in a decade (No. 48 by Rivals) and highest ranked of any program outside the autonomous “power” conferences as USF heads into 2024.

Notable among the new signees is kicker Nico Gramattica, the son of All-Pro Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Martin Gramatica, and following in the footsteps of his uncles Bill (1998-2000) and Santiago (2001-04) who were both standout kickers at USF and in the NFL.

Also among the late signees and portal transferees are Defensive Backs:

Transfers –  D’Marco Augustin (Youngstown State), Brent Austin (James Madison U), Kajuan Banks ( South Carolina), De’Shawn Rucker (Tennessee) and Langston Long (Virginia)

High School – Camren Campbell (TB Tech,Tampa), James Chenault (Jones, Orlando, Fla.)  Deylen Platt (Venice HS, Venice, Fla.).

Their addition gives the Bulls 22 players on the defensive side of the ball in the 2024 class, including 10 defensive backs.

On the Offense transferee wide receiver Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen comes from Purdue and lineman Junior Uzeby from Vanderbilt.

There have been 2 coaching additions. Demarcus Van Dyke was added as cornerbacks coach. Van Dyke competed for the University of Miami in both football and track before being selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders. He played six seasons in the pros before starting his coaching career at ASA College in Miami. He joined the Miami Hurricanes staff in 2018 as a defensive quality control analyst before being shifted to the role of assistant director of recruiting in 2019.  He was promoted to cornerbacks coach in 2021.

Jack Taylor has been promoted from senior quality control analyst to tight ends coach. Taylor followed head coach Alex Golesh from Tennessee to the Bulls last year. Taylor did his part to help the Vols become the nation’s highest-scoring and most explosive offense in 2022, shattering program records and rising to No. 1 in the nation in scoring, yards per game, points per possession and yards per play. He graduated from the University of Missouri.
