Bulls’ Justin Lewis feared to have suffered serious knee injury
Chicago Bulls rookie Justin Lewis reportedly suffered a knee injury during a recent offseason workout, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
Lewis, who went undrafted, suffered the injury away from the team and there is concern it could be a torn ACL. He will undergo further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury with an official announcement from the team likely to follow.
The 20-year-old signed a two-way contract with the Bulls after a strong sophomore campaign at Marquette. He was named the Big East’s Most Improved Player after averaging 16.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 32 games.
Lewis appeared in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Bulls, posting 7.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in five games. He finished his stint with his best game, recording 11 points and five rebounds in a win over the Philadelphia 76ers on July 16.
The Bulls had high hopes for Lewis this season and believed he could have played a role off the bench. Now they are bracing for the possibility he will miss significant time.
