Bunch bringing camp back to Ashtabula County

May 21—Staff Report

For several years, former NFL running back and Ashtabula High School graduate Jarrod Bunch has sponsored a camp for youth in Ashtabula County.

Bunch has had a successful career dating back to youth football, high school, the University of Michigan, the New York Giants, and Oakland Raiders.

After not having one the past two years because of the coronavirus pandemic, the camp this year will be held at SPIRE in Geneva.

The camp is scheduled to go from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 25. This USA FUNdamentals clinic is for children ages 7-13.

The fun and free event is designed to introduce children to football by teaching basic skills. Walk-up registration is from 7:30-8:45 a.m. on June 25.

"He's concerned about the kids getting good fundamentals at a young age," said David Moody, the Ohio contact for the camp. "We want to get parents and volunteers involved. He likes to give back."

Bunch's intent has always been to reach out to as many children as possible in Ashtabula and Lake Counties.

The goal is to reach children from Ashtabula, Geneva, Jefferson, Madison, and other communities.

The Ashtabula and Geneva Public Libraries are working with Moody for a a pre-registration event from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Ashtabula, and 3-4:30 p.m. May 31 in Geneva.

Moody will be there, along with Bunch's Mom, with registration forms for the parents and kids.

Participants can register online at http://account.usafootball.com/events/1034.
