Burberry receives top ranking in L2 Inc. digital index

Models present creations from the Burberry Prorsum collection

UK fashion house Burberry has been named the most digitally savvy fashion and retail brand, according to L2 Inc.'s Digital IQ Index.

The brand moves to the top of the list ahead of Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton, in the study that measures 83 brands on their website offerings, e-commerce, digital marketing and social media awareness.

Burberry pulled ahead of the pack thanks to its use of web platforms like Periscope and Snapchat, according to Women's Wear Daily, in addition to its upgraded mobile platform, which has led to a three-fold increase in the brand's mobile sales in the past year.

The brand, along with Kate Spade, were awarded with "genius" rating. Ralph Lauren, in third, fell from "genius" to "gifted."
