A burger chain is opening its first Clovis location. Here’s when and how to get free food
Fast food restaurant Fatburger and sister brand Buffalo’s Express opens in Clovis Thursday.
The franchised chain restaurant is at the northeast corner of Willow and Alluvial avenues, part of several new buildings constructed on the corner. It has a drive-thru.
What’s Fatburger?
As the name implies, it’s a restaurant that serves big hamburgers. The burgers come in four sizes, starting with the original one-third pound patty.
From there they increase in size to the biggest size, the “XXXL triple Kingburger.” That is made from three patties, a total of 1.5 pounds of beef (maxing out at 2,050 calories, depending upon the toppings).
Also on the menu: chili dog, turkey burger, chicken sandwich, veggie burger, meatless Impossible burger and bunless burger. Fries and milkshakes are available, too.
The Buffalo’s side of the menu specializes in chicken wings, both bone-in and boneless, with more than a dozen sauces to choose from.
It’s the third Fatburger in the area, with another location at Clovis Avenue and Kings Canyon Road, and one in Madera.
Longtime Fresnans may remember when Fatburger had a location in what is now Colorado Grill, on Herndon Avenue near Blackstone Avenue.
The business has been around for 75 years. Various celebrities have owned rights to the franchises over the years, including rappers Ye (who used to be known as Kanye West) and Queen Latifah (who got in a little hot water for being a Jenny Craig weight loss spokesperson while planning to open several Fatburger franchises).
What about free food?
The Fatburger opens its doors at 10:30 a.m. Thursday — but that’s not when the free food is available.
That’s at the grand opening, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 13. A ribbon cutting will happen at 10 a.m. that day. Starting at 10:30 a.m., the first 100 customers can get a free original Fatburger.
The restaurant will also be giving away free french fries with a purchase all day.
