Spicy food lovers, take a seat. Burger King’s horseradish-based Zesty Onion sauce is running out as we speak, and it’s all thanks to a global horseradish shortage.

"We are working quickly with our suppliers to maintain continuity and keep offering our guests the zesty experience they love," a Burger King spokesperson said in a statement.

The shortage comes from a severe weather storm in the Midwest. Some big horseradish suppliers reside there, including the world’s largest horseradish supplier Silver Spring Foods that’s based in Wisconsin.

“We are at the mercy of Mother Nature,” Silver Spring Foods president Eric Rygg said. “And we’re doing everything we can to increase crop yields to meet the demand for horseradish.”

One of Burger King’s suppliers, Restaurant Services, warned that the supply of their fan-favorite sauce may become a full outage by early next year. Plus, if people try to stock up, who knows how fast the supply will go. The company said it’s working on solutions until the next horseradish harvest in April 2020.

Zesty sauce enthusiasts took to Twitter to air their grievances and confusion over the impending total sauce outage.

The zesty sauce shortage comes at a time Burger King is also under heat as a vegan sues the company, because its Impossible Burger is cooked on the same broiler as meat.

Other fast food chains, including Arby’s, offer similar horseradish-based dips that may be in danger, too. Savor and stock up on these dips while you still can, y'all, before you have to substitute them with less-than-desired sauces.
