Burglary suspect in home burned by Marshall Fire arrested
Mar. 29—The man who was named as a 'person of interest' in a Louisville burglary last week was arrested over the weekend.
Nathan Liedtke, 35, was arrested Saturday by police on a warrant for the burglary of a home within the Marshall Fire burn area. He was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary of a dwelling and theft of property between $5,000 to $20,000.
Leidtke was released from Boulder County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
On March 19, a sergeant from the Louisville Police Department noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway of a damaged home around 3 a.m. The sergeant entered the burned neighborhood after observing unusual activity near the entrance of the area.
The sergeant witnessed the perpetrator flee the house and escape through the backyard.
Later, police found stolen items from inside of the house in the vehicle, which was identified as a Chevrolet truck, as well along the path that the suspect fled on foot.
Liedtke was later identified as the suspect by Louisville Police.
"Many of the residents of the City of Louisville were victimized by the Marshall Fire. Incidents like this burglary revictimize those who have already gone through so much," Louisville Chief of Police Dave Hayes said in a statement Monday.
"The Louisville Police Department is committed to working in partnership with the community, City Council and other law enforcement agencies to be creative and effective in preventing crime from happening not only in the burn areas but also in our city as a whole," Hayes added.
