Burke County woman arrested for trafficking meth, possessing unknown pills: Sheriff

LENOIR, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Burke County woman was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly carrying more than 200 grams of methamphetamine a handgun and unknown pills, authorities say.

According to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Jesse Leighann of Morganton was arrested on Valentines Day. She was charged with multiple counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances.

Narcotic agents with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Lenoir Police Department were involved in the arrest. They reportedly located approximately 214 grams of methamphetamine, a 9mm handgun and more than $5,700 in cash.

Deputies say approximately 300 grams of an unknown pill type also was located. The pills will be analyzed by the State Crime Laboratory.

The drugs seized during the investigation has a reported total street value of $32,000 according to North Carolina State Drug Guidelines.

Schwartz was placed in the Caldwell Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.

“There is zero tolerance for a drug dealer,” said Caldwell County Sheriff Alan C. Jones. “If you’re going to distribute methamphetamine in our neighborhoods, then be prepared to face the consequences.”

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office is always in search of any information involving the use and distribution of illegal controlled substances. A concerned citizen’s information and assistance will be kept confidential.
