Burke Restaurant Inspections: 10 Violations At 1 Place

Five restaurants received perfect inspection scores, while another was cited for undated foods and other violations.

Ever wonder how clear your local restaurants are? Fairfax County restaurants regularly undergo health inspections, with the frequency depending on the type of food served and how it is prepared. While violations like malfunctioning refrigerators and food that's not warm or cold enough often pop up, health inspectors sometimes find more critical violations.

"In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," notes the Virginia Department of Health.

Here are full inspection results so far in January around Burke and West Springfield, including restaurants that passed with no violations. Of note, Kanjana Thai Cuisine had 10 violations. Six of these violations were corrected during the inspection.

violations: Raw animal food holding in a manner that may cause cross contamination of ready-to-eat food as follows: raw squid, beef, and pork located above washed bean sprouts and kimchi in WIC (corrected), handwashing facility located at the kitchen was blocked, preventing access by employees for easy handwashing

Taeji Sushi: 8326 Old Keene Mill Rd, WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA 22152, last inspection: Jan. 7

violations: Food employee was observed handling ready-to-eat food sushi using their bare hands, raw meats are stored above and with ready to eat food items, wet wiping cloths used for wiping counters and other equipment surfaces were observed stored on the counter (all corrected), employees health records / signed statements are incomplete, handwashing facility located at the sushi making station is blocked by items stored in it
