Burlington-area Veterans Day deals and activities on Friday
With Friday being Veterans Day, vets can be treated to the following deals, meals, discounts and ceremonies in the Burlington area (deal good for Nov. 11 only, unless noted):
Applebee's: Active-duty military, veterans, Reserves and National Guard personnel receive a free meal when dining in from a special menu.
Burlington Memorial Auditorium: Veterans Day celebration hosted by the Burlington Area Veterans Council inside the auditorium from 10:30 a.m.-noon. The event is free and open to the public. It will feature a speaker, flag-folding ceremony with reading explaining the meaning of each fold, a firing squad and the playing of "Taps." Free coffee and doughnuts will be provided.
Casey's General Stores: Service members past and present receive a free cup of coffee.
Dollar General: Veterans, active-duty military, National Guard and Reserve and their immediate family members save 20% Thursday through Sunday on qualifying, in-store purchases.
Dunkin Donuts: Veterans/active-duty military receive a free donut.
Eagles FOE #150 in Burlington: Turkey dinner, 4-7 p.m. Veterans eat free.
Fareway: Veterans, active-duty military and Reserve and Guard members get 15% off.
Flint River Shooting Range: Veterans receive half-price range time.
Great Clips: Veterans and active service members can go into any U.S. Great Clips salon and get a free haircut Friday or a free haircut card for a future visit
Hy-Vee (Agency Street): Free breakfast for veterans and active-duty military (and one guest) from 6-10 a.m.
Perkins: Veterans and active-duty military get a free Magnificent Seven Meal with valid ID.
Ready Golf: Veterans and active duty personnel can golf for free. Book time online at www.readygolfllc.com and enter coupon code VETSGOLF.
Staples: Active-duty military personnel, reservists, retired or disabled veterans and their immediate families get a 25% discount Nov. 6-12.
Starbucks: Free 12-ounce hot or iced brewed coffee for veterans, military service members and military spouses.
Target: 10% military discount through Nov. 12 to all active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families. The discount can be used on two separate transactions and applies to all in-basket items, online and in-store.
VFW Post #10102 in Burlington: Turkey dinner with potatoes, gravy, dressing, green beans and roll, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; 2:30 p.m-until food runs out. Free for veterans, $10 for all others, $1.50 extra for takeout.
Walgreens: Veterans, active-duty military and their families receive 20% off regular price eligible store items at any Walgreens drugstore nationwide from Friday-Monday.
Wendy’s: Active-duty military and veterans get a free breakfast combo at participating locations from 6:30-10:30 a.m.
