Burlington Bees drop two at O'Fallon in Prospect League baseball

The O'Fallon Hoots scored six runs in the fifth inning of the second game to guarantee a 5-1, 9-2 sweep of the Burlington Bees in a Prospect League doubleheader at O'Fallon, Missouri, Thursday night.

The Bees were limited to three hits in the first game. Sam Monroe and Kevin Santiago both doubled; A.J. Henkle singled and drove the run home.

Owen Rice was the losing pitcher. He gave up five earned runs on six hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out nine Hoots and surrendered a three-run home run to Colin Bergmann in the third inning. C.J. Lewis relieved the final two innings and allowed just one hit.

The Bees managed just two hits in the second game, singles by Ryan Grace and Brandon Bickford. Bickford's RBI-single in the third inning gave the Bees a 1-0 lead.

Sam Maddox, Blane Besse and Cade Hohl each had two hits for O'Fallon. Alfred Ulloa was the winning pitcher; Ian Landreneau took the loss..

The Bees (3-7) play the Cape Catfish at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Friday and Saturday, then head to Springfield Sunday.
