Burlington City Council blocks Apartheid-free measure from town meeting day ballot

For just the second time in a decade, the Burlington City Council has voted to prevent an item from going on the town meeting day ballot. With a final vote of 7-5 along party lines, councilors decided a measure called "Apartheid-free Burlington" did not belong on the ballot, and nearly a hundred people who came to speak at the meeting were divided on the council's decision.
