Burlington man arrested for child abuse after 10-month-old left in critical condition

Authorities recently arrested a Burlington man who they say abused an infant so severely he remained in critical condition nearly a week later.

Emergency services on Jan. 7 arrived at a home on the 100 block of James Drive following a report that a 10-month-old suffered a seizure, according to a Burlington Police news release.

Emergency personnel called police due to the "details and circumstances" of the injuries incurred by the infant, noted the news release.

Following a investigation, police arrested Tyrek Khalil Jacobs, 21, on a charge of intentional child abuse with serious bodily injury. He currently in the Alamance County jail with a bond set at $1 million, noted police.

The child is receiving care at a regional hospital.
