Burlington police take Facebook user into custody for threatening school district

The Burlington Police Department took the author of a Facebook post into custody Wednesday, after police say the person threatened harm on the Burlington Area School District.

Police did not provide an age, gender or residential city for the author.

Police say the post was made on Monday and the threats were toward the school district but not a specific school, student or district official.

Additional officers were assigned to schools throughout the day and no school functions or activities were affected by the investigation, a statement from police said.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
