LAS CRUCES - The city reports the Burn Lake Dog Park opened Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The 6,775 square-foot dog park at 1855 W. Amador Ave. cost $399,492 and was paid for through 2018 General Obligation bonds that were approved in August 2018 by Las Cruces voters.

Another dog park, the Rinconada Dog Park, is anticipated to be opened in December. It will be adjacent to the new Animal Services of the Mesilla Valley facility. The Rinconada Dog Park and new animal shelter were also included among the city’s 2018 GO Bond projects.

When the Rinconada Dog Park opens, Las Cruces will have three public parks whose amenities are focused on dogs. The Las Cruces Dog Park, the city’s first dog park, opened in May 2009. It is at 430 N. Hermosa St., behind Meerscheidt Recreation Center.

  • Shade structures.

  • Water fountains with doggie bowls.
