Burning of chametz returns to Baltimore for Passover

Friday night marks the first night of Passover. Jews all over the world will observe by cleaning their homes of all leavened products known as chametz. In Baltimore, for the first time since the pandemic began, the annual chametz burning took place at Pimlico Race Course. The tradition dates back more than four decades and started as a way to provide a central location for the city's Jews to safely burn their bread. Now, it has become a major part of many families' Passover celebrations. Organizers held a food drive for the community as part of the event.
