Burning truck shuts down I-25 Thursday afternoon

Jul. 7—A burning pickup truck and an accident involving multiple vehicles shut down both lanes of traffic on Interstate 25 late Thursday afternoon near Seton Village for about 45 minutes, according to New Mexico State Police.

Police got to the burning truck at about 5 p.m., said Officer Wilson Silver, and state police shut down that part of I-25 about 20 minutes later.

Silver did not know how the truck caught on fire, but he said nobody was injured during the incident.

Santa Fe County firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded to a separate crash about 500 feet south of the burning truck. County spokeswoman Olivia Romo described it as "a six-motor vehicle collision which involved one rollover" at mile post 288. The truck fire, which she said was a separate accident, is being investigated by state police, she said.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said there were no serious injuries, and the man involved in the rollover was checked out by medical services before refusing treatment and transportation to an area hospital.
