Burr Oak, Colon boys win league games

Both the Burr Oak and Colon boys’ hoops teams played on Wednesday night in league contests.

They did not play each other, but other opponents.

Burr Oak hosted Litchfield and won the contest, 50-47.

In the game, Chase Hines led the way with 16 points for the Bobcats. He grabbed five rebounds and handed out three assists in the win. Jayden Kemp threw in 12 points for Burr Oak in the win, he grabbed four rebounds with four assists.

Garrett Johnson scored nine points with five rebounds, Austin Cole chipped in with six points, four assists and three rebounds. Ethan Boyles totaled five points and six rebounds while Aiden Calvert scored two points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out two assists.

Colon hammered Tekonsha, 76-33.

The Magi poured in double-digit scoring in each of the four quarters for the contest, including a 25-10 start in the opener. Dalton Williams threw up 10 points in that opening frame to help lead the Magi to the lead.

Tekonsha could get nothing going offensive in the second, either. This resulted in only five points up on the scoreboard while Colon put up 19 more.

The Magi lead at the half was 44-15. It got worse for Tekonsha in the third. There, the Indians scored only four points to get to 19 as a team for the game.

Colon added 15 points lone to its total in the third, pushing the lead out to 59-19 entering the final frame. Colon put up 17 more in the final eight minutes, including getting six from Simon Vinson and four from Maverick Downs.

Vinson led the Magi with 22 points, seven rebounds and four steals in the game.

Justin Wickey threw in 16 points with five rebounds, Williams finished with 16 points as well with nine assists and four steals. Tucker Lafler scored six points, adding five rebounds and four steals while Downs also finished with six points and four steals. Nic Mock threw in five points, Kyle Muntian scored three and Jacob Bower finished with two points as well.

Franklin Edson handed out a pair of assists.

Colon made all six of its free throw attempts.
