Bus carrying DSU women’s bowling team crashes in Virginia; driver charged

Eleven people were injured after a charter bus carrying the Delaware State University’s women’s bowling team crashed Thursday morning in Virginia, Virginia State Police report.

The bus was traveling south on I-85 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, taking the team to a weekend tournament in North Carolina, when it ran off the road and overturned just after 11:15 a.m. Thursday, the police news release states.

All 10 passengers and the driver were taken to nearby hospitals.

Police say the driver, identified as Lloyd Archer, was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

This crash is under an ongoing investigation by the Virginia State Police Richmond Division Crash Reconstruction Team.
