Business briefs: Chevron donates to Carlsbad Fire Department

A donation by Chevron will provide important safety equipment upgrades to the Carlsbad Fire Department, Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway announced. Chevron officials attended Carlsbad’s City Council meeting on Jan. 11, 2022, to present the $40,000 donation.

“Chevron has been an incredible community partner for many years, especially when it comes to public safety,” Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway said. “The company’s strong support has helped make Carlsbad a safer place for our first responders and for our entire population.”

The donated funds will go toward radio equipment for the fire department and electrostatic misters. These misters release an extremely fine mist that decontaminates the fire department’s equipment. The Carlsbad Fire Department has faced a significant number of COVID-19 calls over the past two months.

“We are grateful for the Carlsbad Fire Department's tremendous efforts in supporting our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic," said Mark McCulley, Chevron operations superintendent. “We value the strong working relationships we have with the department and feel privileged to donate this equipment to assist them in their operations.”

Previous Chevron projects have included assistance with the Carlsbad Police Department’s K-9 unit, road safety equipment, speed signs and support with installing “no-slip” pads at the Carlsbad Water Park.
