Toyota recognizes Mansfield dealer

Graham Toyota, 1515 W. Fourth St., Mansfield, was recognized for 50 years of service by Toyota Motor North America. The dealership was presented with an award by a Dave Fournier, market representation manager of Toyota Motor North America's Cincinnati region.

Lexington resident awarded new patent

WASHINGTON, D. C. — Todd Martin, an inventor from Lexington, has been awarded a patent for "sporting event entry system and method."

According to the patent abstract, it's a system and method for image recognition of an athlete into a sporting event. A digital image of the athlete is taken by a camera as the athlete crosses a starting line. The digital image is compared to a stored profile image to identify the athlete and enter them into the event without the need for the athlete to pre-register for that particular event.

Souder achieves Modern Woodmen management honor

Brian Souder of Mansfield, a Modern Woodmen of America managing partner, has earned membership in Modern Woodmen’s Managing Partner President’s Council.

The distinction recognizes outstanding leadership and is based on high achievements in the sales of financial products to meet families’ protection, savings and retirement needs. Membership in Modern Woodmen’s Managing Partner President’s Council is limited to the top managers nationwide.

Shelby residents join American Angus Association

SHELBY — Kimber and Griffin Howell of Shelby are new junior members of the American Angus Association, reports Mark McCully, CEO of the national organization with headquarters in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Junior members are eligible to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and take part in Association-sponsored shows and other national and regional events.

The American Angus Association is the largest beef breed association in the world, with nearly 22,000 adult and junior members.

Pioneer to host 'How to Hire and Retain Generation Z' breakfast

SHELBY — Pioneer Career & Technology Center, 27 Ryan Road, will host a breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m. March 28 to help employers learn more about hiring and retaining Generation Z workers.

Attendees will find out what young adults who are entering the workforce value in workplace and how they can help make your company stronger, current trends in hiring younger workers and how to attract them, research on Generation Z and how that compares to previous generations, and how Pioneer is adapting to this new generation and employer needs.

OhioHealth announces plan to build Center for Women’s Health in Columbus

COLUMBUS — OhioHealth announced plans to build a comprehensive women's center to meet the complex and changing health care needs of women throughout the different stages of life. The goal of the OhioHealth Women’s Center is to provide a place of warmth, security and safety for all patients and their families while receiving the best quality care with confidence and familiarity.

The standalone center will become one of the leading facilities of its type in the country and will be constructed on the southeast corner of the OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital campus in Columbus.

The almost 590,000 square feet, $600 million inpatient and outpatient facility will be designed to care for women and their families by not only providing advanced maternity and neonatal intensive care services with a fourth trimester clinic, obstetric and gynecological services, but will also feature mid-life and bone health, urogynecology and female urology, and mammography services.

In 2022, nearly 15,000 babies were delivered across the OhioHealth system.

Firelands Electric Cooperative awards $10,500 in scholarships

NEW LONDON — Firelands Electric Cooperative has announced its latest round of scholarship winners.

Michael Telakowicz of Hillsdale High School was selected as the first-place winner of an $1,800 scholarship. Telakowicz will participate in a statewide contest April 12 at Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives in Columbus where he will compete for additional scholarship money.

The second-place winner of $1,600 is Emma Packard of Ashland High School. Allyson Wigton of Madison Comprehensive High School is the winner of the third-place, $1,400 scholarship. Fourth-place winner of a $1,200 scholarship is Caitlyn Cutlip of Crestview High School. The fifth-place winner of $1,000 is Braden Kiesel of South Central High School. Nathan Humrichouser of Crestview High School is the winner of the sixth-place, $750 scholarship.

The winners of honorable mention scholarships, worth $500 each, are Makayla Spoerr of Crestview High School andLydia Chaffee of South Central High School.

Allison Cawrse of Loudonville High School and Jenna Given of New London High School are the winners of Judges’Choice awards of $500 each.
