Key Realty expands to Ontario

Key Realty has added a new branch office in Ontario with Adam Gongwer as one of three founding members.

Gongwer, who has served as a Lexington Village councilman since 2014, retired early from the Ontario Police Department, which included 10 years as a school resource officer.

“Key Realty wanted to open a branch office in the Mansfield area, and I decided to take my five years of experience with Haring Realty, including three years of being a marketing manager, and help a new brokerage enter the region,” Gongwer said. “Melissa Viers and Amanda Sheets have also joined in the effort. Melissa and I both have our associate broker license which helps navigate local issues that could arise in the real estate market.”

Gongwer noted some significant changes are coming to agents, including buyer representation and commission. After decades of the seller paying the entire commission on the transaction, the buyer will now share in compensation of the real estate agents involved in the transaction. The MLS will also see some changes on how they advertise that new commission structure.

Key Realty has offices throughout Ohio and Michigan with more than 1,300 active agents.

Electric cooperatives partner to host Cooperative Youth Day at the Ohio Statehouse

COLUMBUS — Students from several area schools participated in Cooperative Youth Day at the Ohio Statehouse on Oct. 25 as part of a program originally launched in 2019.

The one-day trip was cosponsored by three Ohio electric cooperatives — Lorain-Medina Rural Electric in Wellington, Firelands Electric in New London, and North Central Electric in Attica — and provided 26 high school students the opportunity to tour the Ohio Statehouse and meet area legislators from both the House of Representatives and Senate.

Students from Black River High School in Medina County, New London High School in Huron County, and Seneca East in Seneca County represented three area electric cooperatives during Cooperative Youth Day at the Ohio Statehouse on Oct. 25.
