Mansfield Post Office is hiring

The Mansfield Post Office at 200 N. Diamond St. will host a job application workshop 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday to fill openings for rural carrier positions. Starting salary is $19.94 per hour.

USPS personnel will be on site to provide detailed information about the positions and answer questions. Applications are accepted online only at usps.com/careers. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays and have an acceptable driving record. EmployMEpalooza Reverse Job Fair will be held April 27.

EmployMEpalooza, a reverse job fair, will take place from 10 a.m.-noon on April 27 at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center, 890 W. Fourth St., Mansfield. It's an opportunity for high school students to showcase themselves to employers and land part-time, seasonal work, internships or post-graduation full-time careers. The student job seekers will have their own booth, and employers will come to meet them.

Admission to the event is free.

Abe Partridge in concert at The Phoenix

Singer-songwriter, visual artist and podcaster Abe Partridge will perform at The Phoenix Brewing Company’s Spirit Room, 131 N. Diamond St. Mansfield at 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20 plus fees. For more information visit phoenixbrewing.com.

Since 2018, Partridge has toured relentlessly, including several tours of the Netherlands, U.K. and Ireland. He is regular at Nashville’s Bluebird Café and has performed on the syndicated radio programs "Mountain Stage" and "Woodsongs Olde Time Radio Hour." He has showcased at the Americana Music Fest, Frank Brown Songwriters Festival, Dripping Springs Songwriter Fest and more.

In September, Partridge released the “Alabama Astronaut” podcast, where he explores songs previously undocumented at churches in Appalachia as well as the culture around the handling of serpents.

Partridge also is a highly acclaimed visual artist. His folk art, primarily acrylic on tarred board as well as watercolors, hangs in the galleries around the Southeast and in the private collections. An exhibit of his artwork inspired by the podcast is currently on exhibit at the Alabama Contemporary Art Center in Mobile through May 20.

Partridge will release his third full-length recording, "Love in The Dark," on Baldwin County Public Records on May 12.
