Haring Realty welcomes new associate

Richard Holmes is the most recent addition to the team of professionals at Haring Realty.

A Mansfield Tyger at heart, Holmes has spent his entire life in the Mansfield and Richland County area. For the past decade he has worked in a machine shop.

“I realized I enjoy working with and helping people," Holmes said. "I am personable, and I like to make new acquaintances, build relationships.”

He noted some of his earliest memories are about helping his parents while they were fixing their rental properties.

When he is not spending time with his two dogs and fiancé, he is out on the disc golf course, playing video or board games and blazing trails on his mountain bike.

Columbia Gas makes major donation to American Red Cross

COLUMBUS — Columbia Gas has donated $50,000 from its NiSource Charitable Foundation to the Central and Southern Ohio Region of the American Red Cross for its Home Fire Campaign. The donation supports year-round efforts of the Red Cross to reduce home fire deaths and injuries through a multifaceted approach.Launched in 2014, the Home Fire Campaign has been credited with saving at nearly 1,400 lives around the country and making over one million homes safer.

During Fire Prevention month, the Red Cross and Columbia Gas urges residents to practice a two-minute fire escape drill that includes at least two ways to exit every room in your home, selecting a meeting spot a safe distance away from your home, and placing smoke alarms on each level of your home.

Smoke alarms should be tested monthly and batteries changed at least once a year if your model requires it. If they are 10 years or older, they likely need to be replaced because components such batteries can become less reliable.

Anyone who would like to have free smoke alarms installed in their home should call 844-207-4509 to set up an appointment.
