Ontario Kohl's to mark Sephora grand opening

The Ontario Kohl's store Wednesday will celebrate the grand opening of Sephora at Kohl’s.

Sephora at Kohl’s features a 2,500-square-foot, fully immersive beauty experience that mimics the look and feel of a freestanding Sephora. There, Sephora-trained beauty advisors offer personalized beauty consultations and assistance with finding products, while testing and discovery zones serve up a rotating assortment of new, emerging or trending products.

Within all Sephora at Kohl’s locations, shoppers will find an assortment of makeup, skincare, hair and fragrance brands, including Rare Beauty, NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, Kiehl’s, Giorgio Armani, Olaplex, Clinique and Sephora Collection.

In addition, six new prestige beauty brands — Murad, Clarins, Jack Black, Living Proof, Versace and Voluspa  — were added to the Sephora at Kohl’s assortment this spring.

The Ontario store, located at 524 N Lexington Springmill Road, is among 400 Sephora at Kohl’s store openings planned nationwide this year.

Lexington inventor credited with new patent

COLUMBUS — Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus has been assigned a patent developed by three co-inventors for "multi-component solid epoxy proppant binder resins." The co-inventors are Robert S. Whitmore of Lexington, Joel D. Elhard of Hilliard, and Phillip N. Denen of Reynoldsburg.

According to the patent application, the invention provides improvements in the extraction of hydrocarbons that use water injection wells, especially the extraction of hydrocarbons from sub-sea level formations.

New Two Men and a Truck franchise in Mansfield

After starting with Two Men and a Truck as a driver six years ago, Jared Button has opened his own location at 331 N. Lexington-Springmill Road in Mansfield The 30-year-old Button worked his way from a driver to a manager and now owner and has an ambitious goal to open three additional locations in the future and offer career opportunities to those in his community.

One-third of all owners with the company start as movers or drivers.

Buehler's Fresh Foods names Davidson and O'Donnell to its board

WOOSTER — Buehler’s Fresh Foods is pleased to announce the appointment of two new board members, Mike Davidson, president and CEO of Buehler’s, and Peter O’Donnell, CFO of Buehler’s.

While with Buehler’s since 2016, Davidson has held the positions of EVP of Store Operations, EVP of sales and marketing and is the president and CEO. Previous to joining Buehler’s, he worked for Price Chopper Supermarkets of Schenectady.

Previous to joining Buehler’s in 2017 as CFO, O’Donnell was with SpartanNash as the VP of Finance and Merger Integration.

Buehler’s operates 14 supermarkets, eight liquor agencies, outside catering, coffee shops and a food truck named Ferris.

Firelands Electric salutes co-op members

NEW LONDON — Over 400 members and guests attended Firelands Electric Cooperative’s member appreciation event in New London on June 18, which also incorporated the organization’s 84th annual meeting. It marked the first in-person gathering since 2019.

A new annual meeting-style included a member appreciation event to encourage co-op family participation. In addition to a catered meal and membership gifts, there were prize drawings, large inflatables and bounce houses, carnival games, face art, educational displays, and Gaelic Glen alpacas.

Bruce Leimbach of New London and Carl Ayers of Perrysville were re-elected to represent districts 4 and 5. Elaine Oswald of Mansfield had been elected to represent District 8.

Officials reported the cooperative remains very strong. Due to strong margins, the cooperative’s board has approved the return of $1 million in capital credits to members in 2022. The refunds, which are largest amount ever returned, which will appear on members’ August electric bill.

In an ongoing effort to strengthen its distribution grid and accommodate future demand for electricity, Firelands Electric started the first phase of a four-year construction workplan earlier this year, which will rebuild nearly 50 miles of lines and cost an estimated total of over $11 million. Also included in the cooperative’s workplan is a complete rebuild of the Coulter substation near Perrysville, which serves roughly 834 member-consumers located throughout southern Ashland and Richland counties.

Ohio Poultry Association calls for nominations to serve on egg board

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Poultry Association (OPA) is accepting suggestions for nominations to serve on the 2023-2024 American Egg Board (AEB), which is U.S. egg farmer’s link to consumers in communicating the value of the incredible egg. AEB is seeking an ethnically diverse group of candidates. Appointed members will serve a two-year term.

To be eligible for nomination, individuals must be producers or representatives of producers and they must own 75,000 or more laying hens. Producers who own less than 75,000 hens are eligible provided they have not applied for exemption and are paying assessments to AEB.

The board is appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and consists of 18 members and 18 alternates from all regions of the country who are egg farmers nominated by certified state and regional organizations representing egg farmers.

All nominations should be submitted by July 13 to OPA at info@ohiopoultry.org.
