HCA Florida Englewood Hospital leaders and caregivers gathered Nov. 29 to celebrate the completion of a multiphase, state-of-the-art Emergency Department renovation. The $10 million, 8,400-square-foot project expands capacity, helping the hospital stay ahead of the health care needs of the Southwest Florida region.

The number of patient care areas in the ER has been expanded from eight to 18.

The project also includes the following: new bronchoscopy-endoscopy suites, a dedicated lounge for first responders, new Behavioral Health Safe rooms, expanded trauma suites, a new waiting and registration area, a private consultation room and increased emergency support space.

All systems and equipment were upgraded for energy efficiency and reflect current design trends in health care.

HCA Florida Englewood Hospital, an HCA Healthcare facility, has been the only one in Florida to earn 21 consecutive “A” grades for hospital safety from the Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization that grades the ability of general hospitals to prevent medical errors and harm to patients.

• For an unprecedented 15th year in a row, Mullet’s Aluminum Products, Inc. received the Aluminum Association of Florida’s 2022 Award of Excellence. The award was presented Nov. 19 at the annual board meeting, held at Hammock Beach Golf Resort, in Palm Coast.

The Award of Excellence represents the highest standards in overall project quality and craftsmanship within the aluminum and glass industry within the state of Florida.

Mullet’s Aluminum, of Sarasota, also received awards in three different categories – railings, impact windows and miscellaneous metals.

The Railings Award was for fabrication and installation of a custom aluminum railing system that resembled “wild reeds,” installed around the perimeter of a home in Tampa.

The Impact Windows Award was for a window and door replacement project at a high-end, luxury condominium on Longboat Key.

The Miscellaneous Metals Award was for fabrication and installation of a massive aluminum trellis that was installed at Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s new Venice campus.

The Aluminum Association of Florida is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Orlando.
