Business Expo and Taste of the Straits returns to Cheboygan June 16

CHEBOYGAN — The annual Taste of the Straits and Cheboygan Business Expo will be coming back to Cheboygan this Thursday in Washington Park, showcasing local businesses and all the area has to offer.

Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Carole Yeck said the businesses will start setting up their booths throughout the park at around 10 a.m. The event will then take place from 1-6 p.m.

"There will be Music in the Park following at 7 p.m.," said Yeck.

Delilah DeWylde will be playing for the Music in the Park concert in the gazebo in Washington Park as part of the summer concert series after the business expo.

There are currently around 24 different vendors, all from different fields, from around Cheboygan who will have booths in the event.

"We have all different businesses," said Yeck. "We have Realtors, we have banks, we have Walstrom Marine, Creation Station, the library, all kinds of different businesses."

Some of the businesses will be looking for people to possibly apply to fill vacancies. Others will be a part of the event to showcase what they have going on, advertising services and answering any questions the community may have and handing out samples of their products.

"It will all be right down in Washington Park this year," said Yeck. "We also have The Great Lakes Grill for the Taste of the Straits. It will all be right here in the park to bring everybody together."

The event is meant not only as a networking event, but to also build prospects of potential clients or employees while having fun. There will also be a 50-50 drawing and giveaways throughout the five-hour event.

Last year, hundreds of people attended the event. There were over 100 booths spread out throughout Washington Park to offer those who attended the event a preview of different services available to residents of the city and county, as well as visitors.

This year's event is on a slightly smaller scale, but will still be offering city residents and visitors a chance to see what Cheboygan has to offer.
