Business is good for Millville contractor, new facility approved for 2 phases

MILLVILLE — An undeveloped South Millville property will be the new and much-expanded home for local mechanical contracting firm Gaudelli Brothers Inc.

The company acquired the nearly 10-acre site at 700 Orange St. about four years ago. It is only a mile and a half from its current facility at 200 South Wade Boulevard.

As approved, there will be two buildings constructed totaling about 40,000 square feet. The project is to be done in two, equally sized phases, a concept the Planning Board approved Monday night.

Angelo Gaudelli, president of the family-owned firm, told board members the expansion probably will lead to about five new jobs. The company has about 55 employees now, he said.

The site plan, approved Monday night, call for a 20,000-square-foot building in each phase. Each building will have about 15,000 square feet dedicated to storage and work areas, with the rest for office use.

Company attorney Kristopher Facenda said the details of the two phases basically mirror each other.

Gaudelli Brothers was founded here in 1968, first operating from Main Street. The company evolved from residential heating and air conditioning work to a commercial design-build operation. It moved to Wade Boulevard in 2003 after constructing a 4,000-square-foot building there.

The board approved the project unanimously. Members voting were City Commissioner Benjamin Romanik, Mayor Lisa Orndorf, Chairman Robert Gallaher, Vice Chairman Jay Laubengeyer, Larry Malone, Robert Moore, Edward Gallagher, and Timothy Sparagna.

Van Emden out as solicitor

Monday night also was the board’s annual reorganization meeting, which was unusually suspenseful. The board unanimously voted not to reappoint Solicitor Nathan Van Embden, replacing him with Vineland attorney Beth White.

The vote followed a nearly hour-long closed session meeting, including a conference with Van Embden. White also officially replaced Van Emden as Zoning Board solicitor at its January meeting.

Van Embden had been solicitor for both boards for more than a decade and a half. Late last year, he was appointed solicitor for Vineland's planning and zoning boards.

Afterward, Robert Gallaher was confirmed for another term as chairman and Laubengeyer as vice chairman.
