Bryan Baier, a health care industry veteran and native Kansan, has been named president of Healthy Blue Kansas. “I am honored to return to my home state to lead Healthy Blue in this effort to serve our fellow Kansans,” said Baier. “By partnering with the KanCare program, care providers and community-based organizations across the state, Healthy Blue is eager for the chance to coordinate the care and critical support services that will enable individuals to live healthy and productive lives.” Healthy Blue, a collaboration of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, intends to bid on a contract this year to serve the 415,000 individuals in KanCare, the state’s Medicaid program. “Bryan is recognized throughout the industry as a trusted leader who brings to Healthy Blue an extensive knowledge of Medicaid and the important role it plays in the lives and well-being of Kansans,” said Greg Sweat, MD, SVP and chief health officer, Blue KC. Baier has more than 20 years of experience in regulatory, compliance and legislative advocacy with Medicaid managed care organizations.

McElroy’s Mechanical, Plumbing, Heating and Air has added Brandon Seamans to its growing team of residential HVAC technicians. Seamans has nearly 23 years of experience in residential heating and air conditioning service and repairs. A graduate of WTI Technical School, Seamans began his career in maintenance for apartment buildings before focusing on HVAC service for homes. “In the past five years, Brandon has developed relationships with many repeat customers who know and appreciate his exceptional heating-and-air troubleshooting skills,” said Greg Hunsicker, McElroy’s VP of residential HVAC. “Brandon brings a very high level of problem solving, craftsmanship and trustworthiness to McElroy’s new and established customers.”

Mainstream Nonprofit Solutions Inc. announced Denise Gibson as its new director of learning and development. Gibson joins the training unit of the MNS Human Resources Department and brings a long history of experience with nonprofit organizations. In her new position, she will lead the agency in the design, development and implementation of staff development for all four states. Prior to this new role, Gibson served as the director of national programs for the Children's Alliance of Kansas for 17 years. She worked with many states, agencies and tribal communities across the U.S. and Nicaragua. She provided training and consultation services to help strengthen their model of practice in recruiting, training and supporting foster and adoptive families. “My passion for children and families has driven my work. I began my career as a case manager and decided I enjoyed helping other people find that same passion. Over the years, I have served on numerous statewide workgroups that focused on strengthening the services in child welfare.,” said Gibson when asked about her experience in child welfare. Gibson received a bachelor’s and master's in human development and family life from the University of Kansas.

Leadership Kansas, one of the country’s oldest and most distinguished statewide leadership programs, on Monday announced its Kansas Emerging Leaders Class of 2023. KEL is a statewide program designed to enhance and motivate young leaders from various Kansas communities. Each year, Kansans in their 20s and 30s are nominated to apply for the program.
