In Business: Metro Bus CEO receives national award

Metro Bus CEO Ryan Daniel was named the Gerald Anderson Member of the Year Award at the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials.

The award recognized Daniel for showcasing dedication to the philosophy "the success of one is contingent upon the success of all," Metro Bus said in a news release.

"This award is COMTO’s way of honoring great service and the value of teamwork within the transportation industry nationwide," Metro Bus said in the release. "It is given to a pioneer who ensures growth and development within the transit industry, and its surrounding communities."

St. Cloud Metro Bus provides fixed route, dial-a-ride and commuter bus services in St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids and Waite Park.

Some Minneapolis-based publishing company assets sold to Rice company

Rice company Bear Holdings LLC has purchased six bridal magazines formerly owned by Tiger Oak Media Inc.

Tiger Oak Media is a Minneapolis-based print magazine publisher that filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in October 2019.

Four separate buyers purchased Tiger Oak's four business divisions, which continued operating during the sales process, according to Platinum Group, the Minnetonka-based business advisory firm that handled research and negotiation with potential buyers.

Bear Holdings LLC's six bridal magazine purchases included Minnesota Bride, Wisconsin Bride and California Wedding Day.

Central Minnesota Builders Association completes move to new office

The Central Minnesota Builders Association has moved to its new office at 2848 Second St. S, Suite 145. Previously, the CMBA had an office building downtown.

The new office includes a suite for members to use for client meetings or work time during regular business hours.

“It is ideal space for what our member builders and developers need and want,” CMBA Executive Director Wanda Schroeder said in a news release. “We are elevating CMBA’s role and profile as the premiere voice for builders and developers in our communities.”

UBS Financial Services promotes employee

Veronica Villeneuve has been promoted to senior wealth strategy associate.

Villeneuve has been designated a certified financial planner. She joined the St. Cloud UBS office in 2017.

UBS is a global wealth management company.

Stearns County receives national recognition for website

Stearns County earned a first place award recognizing its work to "improve government experiences through its processes and initiatives for greater citizen satisfaction," the county announced in a press release.

The recognition came through the CivicPlus Civic Experience Award Competition. CivicPlus is a web development company focused on building online local communication systems for local governments.

"Stearns County was specifically recognized for its efforts and accomplishments in providing information and services to residents during the pandemic and continuing to utilize practices that are more efficient and beneficial for residents and staff," Stearns County said in the release.

The county was recognized for its new website and mobile-friendly design; its chatbot; its online appointment scheduling; its AudioEye implementation to help with website accessibility; digital forms; hybrid board meetings that allow people to attend in person or online; one-on-one online meetings with clients; real estate e-records; hybrid courtrooms; video jail visitations; online county auctions; virtual job interviews; online onboarding of new employees; and drop box and drive-thru utilization.

“This award highlights how collaboration, teamwork, and technology have come together in Stearns County to improve the experiences and lives of its residents,” Stearns County Digital Services Manager Jenny Burger said in the release. “Stearns County always tries to be innovative and forward-thinking, doing its best to make conducting county business easy, actions transparent and everything accessible.”
