Business News: Community Wellness Partners names new president and CEO

Community Wellness Partners (CWP) – the affiliation of LutheranCare and Presbyterian Homes & Services – has named Jeremy Rutter, an executive-level healthcare professional with 20 years of progressive experience, as its new president and CEO.

In this role, Rutter has the responsibility for the total administration and operation of both organizations which comprise a network of multi-faceted healthcare communities serving residents and program participants for more than 150 years.

He comes to CWP from Heritage Ministries, a faith-based not-for-profit healthcare organization focusing on senior care. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Rutter received a bachelor of science in health service management from SUNY IT, a master of public administration from Villanova University and is currently enrolled in a PhD program in gerontology from Concordia University in Chicago.

Rutter is a licensed nursing home administrator in New York State and holds both the American College of Health Care Administrators’ national certification, as well as the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Board’s Health Service Executive certification.

• Melissa Schmidt has joined Upstate Urology at MVHS as a certified family nurse practitioner, where she will provide care to patients of all ages. Schmidt has more than 10 years of nursing experience at Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) in inpatient post-operative care and vascular surgery. Schmidt earned a master of science in family nurse practitioner from Utica College and a bachelor of science in nursing from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. • John M. Marraffa has been named president of Kinney Drugs. Marraffa, a Utica native, joined KPH Healthcare Services in 2019 as vice president of government affairs & healthcare services integration. Since then, he launched a new division, Kinnect, a transformational onsite pharmacy for specialized healthcare facilities. He also expanded Kinney’s innovative Delivery at Discharge program, introduced a Patient Safety Organization, and lead Kinney’s extensive corporate COVID-19 vaccination and testing response. Marraffa also serves as patient safety officer to provide leadership and direction to the organization’s patient safety strategy. He is responsible for continuously evaluating and improving patient safety programs based on internal needs and external requirements and standards. He earned a bachelor of science in pharmacy from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Licensed to practice pharmacy in New York, Illinois and Vermont, Marraffa was appointed to the New York State Board of Pharmacy in 2014 and he is currently serving his second term as board chairman.

Jamie Critelli has joined Gilroy Kernan & Gilroy Inc. of New Hartford, as executive assistant. In her role, Critelli will support the firm’s CEO and integrator. Additionally, the role includes project management and office management responsibilities. Critelli brings a range of experience, including previously serving in operations, customer service, and most recently, marketing and communications. Critelli resides in Sauquoit.

• Dr. Svetlana Petrovets has joined the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Medical Group Washington Mills Medical Office, where she provides primary care services to patients of all ages. Petrovets earned a medical degree from the Grodno State Medical University in Grodno, Belarus. She performed her residency at the St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency Program in Utica. She also earned both her bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in nurse practitioner from SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
