Ottomanelli named VP of sales, marketing at Tomahawk Robotics

Michael Ottomanelli recently joined Tomahawk Robotics in Melbourne as vice president of sales and marketing.

Ottomanelli will be responsible for developing the strategic sales plan and managing the global sales force, while increasing revenue and delivering customer satisfaction for the company.

Tomahawk Robotics is a startup company that develops software and hand-held controllers for air- and land-based drones for the military, energy sector and other customers.

Previous to joining Tomahawk, Ottomanelli was vice president of business operations and innovation at Titan Advanced Solutions, and, before that, was director of project engineering at Thales. He also was a task manager at Harris Corp., now called L3 Harris Technologies.

Melbourne firm part of award-winning bridge project

Abs Structural Corp. in Melbourne was a key team member of a bridge named “Bridge of the Year” by the National Steel Bridge Alliance.

The company is headed by President Frank Kingston, and the project involved connected two main thoroughfares in the Hartford, Connecticut, area.

Abs Structural was founded in 1985 and is located at 700 E. Melbourne Ave., Melbourne.

The company details all types of bridges — from pedestrian structures to more complex suspension bridges — for public works, railway, municipalities, land development and other projects.

BlocSec adds Africano to its advisory board

David Africano, a local cybersecurity expert, recently was named advisory board member at BlocSec Inc.

BlocSec, based on Merritt Island, is a veteran-led organization composed of industry leaders focused on ensuring that consumers, businesses and enterprises are always “at the ready” to face adversity created by cyber-attacks.

Africano, a U.S. Army veteran, is a managing principal and chief information security officer at Volar Security, a Melbourne-based cybersecurity firm.

Africano also is a volunteer adviser at Eastern Florida State College’s Center for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics Advisory Council. The latter is composed of prominent cybersecurity and cyber-forensic professionals from the Space Coast area. These industry leaders provide guidance to EFSC in directing curriculum and techniques around the latest trends and challenges facing the community and local businesses.

Miorelli named to Circles of Care board

Luke Miorelli recently was named to the board of directors of Circles of Care Inc, Brevard County’s largest provider of behavioral health services.

Miorelli is the retired president of MEC Contractors-Engineers of Melbourne.

After retiring last October from MEC Contractors, he started MEC Forensics LCC, which offers numerous services, including forensic engineering.

Miorelli is a 1978 graduate of the University of Florida, earning his bachelor’s degree in civil and structural engineering.

He is a lifelong resident of Brevard County. He has been married to his wife, Jan, for 40 years. They have two adult children.

“Throughout our 50–plus years of service to Brevard County, we have had the support of outstanding volunteer directors … and we are very pleased to welcome Mr. Miorelli to the Circles of Care family,” said David Feldman, the organization’s president.

Potomski given Distinguished Catholic Educator Award

Donna Potomski recently received the Distinguished Catholic Educator Award by Ascension Catholic School.

Potomski is a graduate of Ascension Catholic School and Melbourne Central Catholic High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Florida State University in 20005.

In June, she received her master’s degree in education leadership from The American College of Education.

At Ascension — where she was been for 16 years —  Potomski has taught second, third and fourth grades. She currently teaches fifth grade. She also serves as athletic director at Ascension.
