BUSINESS PEOPLE: HR executive joins Making An Impact board

Making An Impact, a leading nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals, families and communities with information for action and resilience, has added Cynthia Keaton to its board of directors.

Keaton is a highly accomplished human resources executive with over 20 years of human resource leadership in various public and private organizations, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.

She was vice president of Human Resources for Dobbs Equipment, in Riverview, before joining Prescott HR, headquartered in Maryland.

Keaton holds a master’s in HR from the University of South Carolina and multiple certifications, including Senior Professional in Human Resources, Certified Benefits Professional, Group Benefits Associate and Senior Certified Professional from the Society of HR Management.

Her past board experience includes serving in Charleston as a member of the Trident Technical College Foundation and the CPM Federal Credit Union.

Shumaker Partner Brett M. Henson has been appointed to the Construction Industry Advisory Board for the Stock Development Department of Construction Management at the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering of Florida Gulf Coast University.

The Stock Development Department of Construction teaches students the skills needed to manage, coordinate and supervise construction projects from start to finish, including scheduling, budgeting and managing materials and people.

Certified by the Florida Bar in Construction Law, Henson is heavily involved in the construction industry. In addition to his new role on CIAB, he is an American Bar Association, Forum on Construction Law, D1 – Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Steering Committee Member; the Florida Bar, Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section, Construction Law Committee, Legislative Subcommittee Co-Chair; and a member of the Associated Builders & Contractors, Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, where he was a fellow of the NEXGEN Program Class of 2021 and sat on the Surfside Industry Task Force.

Henson’s legal practice focuses in the areas of commercial and construction litigation.

Beneva, formerly Beneva Flowers, has hired Claire Augello as its new marketing coordinator.

Previous marketing coordinator Michelle Hauge was recently promoted to lead the customer service team.

Before joining Beneva, Augello worked for several years as a social media coordinator for various hospitality and retail businesses in her hometown of Buffalo, New York.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from Buffalo State College and has multiple certifications in online marketing.

Augello started a freelance social media business during the COVID-19 pandemic, and most recently worked in sales as an online marketing consultant for Angi Leads before moving to Sarasota in August.
