Kari-Jo Koshes, director of stores and fulfillment at Sarasota’s JMX Brands, has been accepted to the Leadership Florida program.

Koshes joined JMX Brands in 2013 and oversees innovations in product delivery, manages the LaGrange, Indiana, warehouse and outlet store, supervises the experience and ongoing expansions of DutchCrafters showrooms in Sarasota, Alpharetta, Georgia, and Howe, Indiana, and plans for future showroom locations.

Koshes has a bachelor’s degree in general business with a minor in international business from the University of Central Florida. She earned her MBA and DBA from Columbia Southern University and is a 2019 graduate of Leadership Sarasota County.

The mission of Leadership Florida is to continually discover and convene committed individuals, enhancing and recharging their leadership skills by introducing them to a powerful community through which they find knowledge and inspiration.

All Faiths Food Bank, in Sarasota, has created and filled a new position in human resources, hiring experienced professional DD Goerke as its new senior director of People & Culture.

In this role, Goerke will be responsible for contributing to the strategic leadership of All Faiths, serving as the keeper of the organization’s culture and ensuring continuous improvement and innovation; talent acquisition and management, including assisting team members with individual professional development plans; human resources administration; and general administration.

The ultimate goals of this senior leadership position are to develop HR strategies that will result in a high-performing organization and a culture characterized by energized and engaged team members, and also develop effective, creative HR solutions that will support All Faiths’ mission and organizational objectives.

Goerke comes to All Faiths from Turning Points, where she served as the Human Resources director. Previous positions include director of People & Culture at PropLogix (Sarasota), director of HR at HCR ManorCare (Venice), area/regional HR manager for Xanterra Parks & Resorts (Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming) and regional HR manager for Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana.

Hershorin Schiff Community Day School, in Sarasota, recently hired Tracey Bortz as director of Early Childhood Education Center programs. She was chosen after a six-month nationwide search, according to Dan Ceaser, head of school.

Bortz was previously the director of early childhood education at the Gross Schechter Day School in Pepper Pike, Ohio.

Bortz, who was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, graduated from the Johannesburg College of Education and received her master’s from Siegal College of Jewish Studies, in Cleveland.

Hershorin Schiff Community Day School serves students in preschool through eighth grade. The school opened a new campus last summer.

The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota, has appointed two new hospitality professionals to its executive sales team: Jillian Dampier as director of Group and Catering Sales and Peter Francis as director of Transient Sales.

An Indiana native, Dampier’s hospitality career began in Indianapolis after graduating from Indiana University with a bachelor’s in English. With 20 years of experience, she has held various leadership positions with renowned brands such as Hyatt, Conrad Hotels and Resorts, and other properties under the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

She brings extensive group and catering leadership knowledge and expertise to her new role, where she will be spearheading sales for the luxury hotel’s group events. She will also be overseeing weddings, social events and corporate catering gatherings.

Francis has an MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business in Winter Park. His 28-year career in the hospitality industry began at Walt Disney World, followed by an 18-year tenure with various Marriot Bonvoy brands.

He started with the group sales team at The Ritz-Carlton, Orlando Grande Lakes and JW Marriott Grand Lakes Orlando and continued working in the group segment for The Ritz-Carlton, Naples and The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles and JW Marriott, Los Angeles at LA LIVE.

He launched his leisure sales experience just under a decade ago when he joined the team at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, and has since gained experience at other properties including The Ritz-Carlton Resorts of Caribbean and Mexico, and The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe.
