Business People: Ramsey County names Annie Porbeni to head Human Resources

Ramsey County announced that Annie Porbeni has been selected as its chief human resources officer, effective Sept. 6. Porbeni most recently served as the human resources director for the State of Minnesota‘s Department of Public Safety.

Startup accelerator gener8tor, along with Allianz Life Insurance Co. of North America, Golden Valley, and Securian Financial, St. Paul, announced the five participants of the 2022 Minneapolis-St. Paul OnRamp Insurance Accelerator: Botdoc, Colorado Springs, Col.; ForwardLane, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Manifest, Chicago; Nestimate, Lincoln, Neb., and White Swan, New York. Each startup will receive a $100,000 investment and will work with gener8tor, Allianz Life and Securian teams during the three-month accelerator.

Summit Management, Stillwater, announced that Finance & Commerce presented its Top Projects Award to President Mark Lambert and the company for the development of Vue at BlueStone, a luxury apartment complex in Duluth.

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School–Twin Cities, Minneapolis, announced it has named Jacqueline (Jackie) M. Darrah as the vice chair of its board of directors. Darrah is senior associate general counsel with OptumInsight, a division of UnitedHealth Group, Eden Prairie.
ENERGY
Northern Oil and Gas, a Wayzata-based holding company for energy-mineral producing properties in North Dakota, announced the addition of William Kimble to its board of directors. Kimble served as office managing partner in Atlanta and managing partner-southeastern United States at accounting firm KPMG.
FINANCIAL SERVICES
Thrivent Funds, a division of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a Minneapolis-based consumer financial services company, announced the election of new board members Arleas Upton Kea, Robert J. Manilla and James W. Runcie. Kea previous held various roles at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.; Manilla is vice president and chief investment officer of the Kresge Foundation, and Runcie is the chief executive officer of the Partnership of Education Advancement.
GRANTS
Enterprise Holdings Foundation, part of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, announced it has granted $51,000 to four nonprofits in Minnesota: Break Through Twin Cities, Minnesota Education Equity Partnership, Northside Achievement Zone and the Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities. The grants are part of Enterprise Holdings’ ROAD Forward initiative, emphasizing early childhood development, youth health and wellness, and career and college preparation.

Presbyterian Homes & Services, a St. Paul-based provider of residential care and health services for older adults, announced the appointment of Jennifer Hissam as campus administrator of its Highland Path residence in St. Paul. Hissam previously held roles with the company’s residential communities in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen.

Winthrop & Weinstine, Minneapolis, announces the addition of attorneys Jason C. Harby as counsel in the Tax Credit Financing & Syndication practice, and Kip M. Krehbiel as an associate in the Specialty Tax Credits & Incentives practice.

Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, Eden Prairie, announced the addition of Kurian Thomas as vice president, programs, effective Aug. 15. Kurian most recently was at Fetzer Institute, as a program officer, program director, and vice president of programs. … Urban Land Institute, an international organization focused on land use research and education, announced that Lynette Dumalag, senior vice president at commercial real estate agency JLL Minneapolis, has been named incoming chair for Urban Land Institute Minnesota.

Toastmasters, a national organization promoting communication, public speaking and leadership, announced the election of St. Paul resident Colleen Marie Kelly as Toastmasters District 6 program quality director for 2022-23. District 6 comprises more that 100 clubs and more than 3,200 members.

Coldwell Banker Realty announced the opening of dedicated office for Team Edelstein, a residential real estate group, at 757 Snelling Ave. South, St. Paul. The office is headed by Henry Edelstein.

Miner’s Inc., the Hermantown, Minn.-based parent company of regional grocery chain Super One Foods, announced the promotion of Patrick Miner to president. He succeeds Jim Miner Jr., who will continue his role as chief executive officer.
