Business People: Thrivent announces new board chair


Thrivent, a Minneapolis-based diversified investment brokerage, announced that N. Cornell Boggs III, has been elected chair of the board of directors, effective Feb. 1, succeeding Bonnie E. Raquet. Boggs is a senior strategic adviser for Quarles & Brady, a national multi-disciplinary legal services firm.


KC Truth, a Minneapolis-based independent ad agency, announced new clients Minnesota Public Radio and Twin Cities Orthopedics and the appointment of Mike DePauw in the newly created position of executive director. DePauw previously was SVP, director of account leadership at Periscope.


The Minnesota Cattle Industry Convention announced the following award winners: 2022 Cattleman of the Year: Mike Landuyt; 2022 Minnesota Beef Industry Service Award: Minnwest Bank; Dennis Bottem and Reid Mason Memorial scholarships to college students Josephine Jensen and Sydney Pankonin respectively.


Wayzata-based global commodity trader Cargill announced that Jamie Miller will step down as chief financial officer and Joanne Knight will serve as acting CFO. Knight currently serves as vice president of finance for Cargill’s Agriculture Supply Chain enterprise.


Maple Grove-based accounting firm Barton Walter & Krier announced that Ben Johnson was promoted to tax director.


Malco Products, an Annandale, Minn.-based maker of professional hand tools for workers in the HVAC, construction and automotive trades, announced that its safety and environmental manager, Chris Strand, has been appointed to the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s Occupational Safety and Health Review Board.


Gravie, a Minneapolis-based health benefits manager for business, announced the hiring of Dr. Greg Burrell as the company’s first-ever chief medical officer. Burrell previously served as vice president of clinical solutions and operations at Accolade and also co-founded Carbon Health, a provider of urgent and virtual health care.


Great Clips, a Minneapolis-based franchisor of retail hair salons, announced it has won a 2022 Digiday Technology Award for the development of its Salon Social Ad Platform in the Best Social Marketing Platform category.
