Business tidbits: Bike shop opens, NW WA Fair underway, Bellingham bakery’s sweet milestone

Here’s a roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:

New bike shop opens

Tim’s Bike Shop, a bike and biking gear store has officially opened at 1622 N State St. in Bellingham. The shop also has a location in Everett.

The new shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Whatcom Humane Society thrift shop moving

The Whatcom Humane Society’s thrift shop has announced its moving date as it changes location. The previous location at 4151 Meridian St. in Bellingham’s Cordata shopping center stopped accepting donations on August 6, and will close its doors on Sunday, August 27.

The new thrift shop will open for donations on Sept. 9, but will not open for business until Wednesday, Sept. 27. The shop will be open regularly from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and will be at 1534 Birchwood Ave. in Bellingham, near Big Lots.

The new thrift shop will also have a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Sept. 30.

Bakery celebrates anniversary with deals and events

Saltadena Bakery, a bakery and cake shop in Bellingham is celebrating its fourth anniversary with specials and events.

The local bakery is known for its beautiful cakes, as well as cream puffs, French Macarons, cookies and espresso drinks.

The celebration runs from Aug. 18-20, and is at 111 W Holly St. in downtown Bellingham. The shop is regularly open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The NW WA Fair starts

The Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden is back for the summer and happening now!

The fair is opena nd runs through Saturday, Aug. 19, and will include carnival games, rides, exhibits, food vendors, farm animals, 4-H competitors and a variety of entertainment.

The fair is at The Northwest Washington Fairgrounds at Event center at 1775 Front St. in Lynden.
