Aug. 29—Cobb County court operations were unaffected Monday after firefighters battled a blaze in Building D of the Cobb courthouse complex Sunday.

Marietta firefighters were called to the building to extinguish a fire on the building's roof early Sunday evening, around 5:20 p.m. No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained by 6:30 p.m.

Capt. Jason Garner, deputy fire marshal for the Marietta Fire Department, said the fire had been deemed accidental, but did not have further details on its cause. There were no indications of criminal activity, Garner added.

A county spokesperson said a roofing company examined the damage Sunday night. The area beneath the roof was not in use, and there were "minor impacts" to a sheriff's office space below that. Workers could be observed on the building's roof Monday morning.
