Business as usual for Fairbury City Council

FAIRBURY — A matter of routine business was the rule for Wednesday's Fairbury City Council meeting at City Hall.

The city council approved the consent agenda, including the minutes from the last last meeting, financial reports, police reports and sidewalk requests.

The council also approved a number of items on the regular agenda as business-as-usual continued.

Among the items approved by the council was a request from Linda Fagan and Darren Kerrins to use the gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park for their wedding at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. The wedding party will park by the VFW building, and the reception will also be at the VFW.

A request from the Prairie Central Cheerleaders to host a "Party in the Park" at North Park on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. was approved.

The council also voted to donate the same amount of money as last year to Fairview Haven's Harvest of Sharing 36th annual Benefit Supper.

City Superintendent Brett Ashburn reported the street work by the Busey Bank building is now completed.

Also taking place was the council's move to fill a position on the Zoning Board of Appeals. The council voted to appoint Cory Cottrell to fill the position left vacant by John Gavin.

It was also announced there would be a Livingston County E-Recycling Event on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the old Kmart parking lot at Vermillion Plaza in Pontiac. Acceptable items include computer-related items like monitors, televisions, keyboards, cell phones, tablets, speakers, and printers.
