New businesses are opening across Franklin County. Here is the latest on new and expanding businesses in the County.

Horizon Goodwill expands footprint in Waynesboro

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Friday, Jan. 21as Horizon Goodwill moved from 11105 Buchanan Trail East, Suite J, Waynesboro, to 11145 Buchanan Trail East.

According to Craig Foster, marketing and public relations manager for Horizon Goodwill Industries, the move within the Waynesboro Market Place took over a part of the space in the old Food Lion / Save-a-Lot store.

The store is set to carry items such as clothing, houseware, electronics, shoes, furniture, bedding, mattresses and jewelry.

Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

HGI operates 18 stores and 20 donation sites in the area. For more information call 717-762-4561.

James Shoe store re-opens under new ownership

Diane Holdaway, a retired podiatrist with 20 years of service to the medical community, purchased James Shoes, located at 76 W. Main St. in Waynesboro, on Jan.6. Holdaway remodeled the store to where she can use her knowledge of the foot and ankle to help fit customers with the proper shoes.

James Shoes, which has been serving the Waynesboro community for nearly 80 years. It carries a variety of children’s footwear, plus men's and women's shoes in many styles including athletic shoes, casual and dress shoes, boots, slippers, and sandals. They carry name brands, including Stride Rite, Saucony, Keds, Clarks, Minnetonka and Lamo.

In addition to shoes, the shop offers water protectants, shoe laces, polish, insoles and orthotics, as well as socks and compression stockings.

Dollar General opens additional location in Chambersburg

The Dollar General, located at 5300 Molly Pitcher Highway in Chambersburg, is now open.The store is expected to employ six to 10 people.

The location carries household essentials including food, cleaning supplies, paper products, over-the-counter medicines, hygiene products, baby items and more.

“At Dollar General, we believe the addition of each new store provides positive economic growth for the communities we proudly serve, and the addition of our new Chambersburg store highlights our commitment to deliver a pleasant shopping experience that includes great prices on quality products in a convenient location,” said Dan Nieser, senior vice president of real estate and store development.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.

Boutique offers personalized shopping experience

Graceful Beauty Boutique offers personalized shopping and is located at 32 E. Main St. in downtown Waynesboro. The boutique specializes in giving one-on-one service as well as offering styling sessions.

The boutique, owned by Barbara Venetta, carries jeans, purses, jewelry, hats, belts, braletts, camis, scarves, tops, dresses, cardigans, jackets and more.

Hours of operation are Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturda,y from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
