Lower Makefield's busy Stony Hill Road to be detoured for months. What you need to know

Bucks County motorists will have to contend with a new round of detours and road closures as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation continues its warm-weather road improvement projects.

Here's what you need to know to avoid delays as you travel on Bucks County roads:

PennDOT replacing Stony Hill Road culvert in Lower Makefield

Beginning on Monday, May 15, PennDOT will work to replace the Stony Hill Road culvert over Brock Creek. This work will lead to Stony Hill Road being closed and detoured between Judith Place and Oxford Valley Road.

PennDOT advises drivers to use Heacock Road/Oxford Valley Road and Big Oak Road instead.

PennDOT estimates this closure will last through at least mid-September. The 97-year-old Stony Hill Road culvert carries roughly 8,000 vehicles per day.
