Butler basketball center Manny Bates enters NBA Draft, retains eligibility

Butler center Manny Bates is going to test his pro basketball prospects while keeping his college eligibility.

The 6-11 post player appeared in 26 of Butler's 32 games this season, averaging 11.6 points and 5.5 rebounds. He struggled through shoulder injuries at times.

The transfer from North Carolina State had strong efforts in the Bulldogs' biggest wins of the season, with 22 points and 10 rebounds against Kansas State on Nov. 30, and 19 points against Xavier on Feb. 10.

Five other Bulldogs have entered the transfer portal: Jayden Taylor, Chuck Harris, Myles Tate, Myles Wilmoth and Pierce Thomas.
